Preview Message Before sending, And Sent folder

I would like to see a Sent folder for all my messages i sent, And i'd like to preview the messages before they get sent(Just like posts).

I'm not here for the rates, but rating a post is a good way for me to know how much i helped. Private messages will do also.

I think you should get an email address from one of the hundreds or thousands of sites that offer them for free and use a real email system like the rest of us.

I suppose though that it would not hurt to suggest that the dev-archive web site express recognition of people like Daniel with a distinctive email address.

Thank you for providing me such an excellent opportunity to say what I said.

I do use a real e-mail system, I just get so many e-mails that i prefer to use the dev-archive e-mail system for dev-archive related topics. Many times i got a reply to a message that i sent a couple of days ago. It helps to know what the person means since i don't always remeber my exact post.

When you get a message through the dev-archive private message system, you still get a message sent to your regular email system, right? So how does this help you to remember your "exact post"? You just get the message, the same as if it were sent directly to your email system, instead of being sent indirectly through the dev-archive system first, then your regular email system. I do not understand the advantage. When you get the message, it has the same information regardlous of where it came from.

Lets say i send you a CG message about encoding e-mails. A week later i get a reply about it. Its hard to understand exactly what your saying (in my CG message or My private e-mail) without viewing my prior message.

First, dev-archive does not provide you with the messages you have sent. That is what you are asking for. Since it currently does not offer that, you still have not explained why you are currently not using the regular email system to communicate with us.

In many cases, replies include the original message. In those situations where the reply does not include your message, you can usually find all messages you sent to the person replying.

I had a situation like that today but it does not happen often. I received a message from someone asking for help but I could not remember the prior messages from the person. I searched and found the prior messages and so I learned that the message was from the person I had been wondering about but I had not gotten around to looking for the person's messages.

I am also a volunteer moderator for a mailing list (not programming related) and I often have to do searches of prior messages to get a variety of stuff. The dev-archive email system does not offer searching capability (uh oh; there goes another request) so if you accumulate a large quantity of messages it might be difficult to find messages without using your email system's searching capabilities.

The advantage of using the dev-archive system is that you would have all dev-archive messages together and separate but you can acheive almost the equivalent by making a folder in your regular email system for dev-archive messages received. I have done that. Perhaps we should suggest that our regular email systems be improved to offer the option of having sent messages be automatically put into subfolders based on email id sent to.

I think that is important also, and that sent folder should reference _all_ messages posted, including:
thread-starts,replies and private messages.

I cannot view my thread-starting posts, and i need them.

Another suggestion is about applying a voting/locking/dumping system to the private message system, ie, I would like to vote some private messages I have (I'm having great thread-related information exchanging), as well as the option to suggest it (when implemented) as a great article to be locked, or, if i wanted, i could dump those messages to a new thread, with posters name. I'll be doing this soon, but i'll have to ask reply's author to reply again, and i'll have to keep replying again and again, 'til we get to the last message. Believe, I really found these articles great, but, though they started in a thread, private conversation is now wide long.
Hope I made my point.
