Subdivision of the Java Forum...
Hi,
Suggest more sub division or categories as they are called here, under the java programming forum
Because besides the already existing categories, under Misc we can have so many topics like
Java Mail, JDBC, to name a few...

I know this is an old thread, but I was also wondering if there could be some categories in the java programming forum. it seems most of the posting there is about Swing and basic Java, so maybe these two could be the main categories for a start.

I don't think that the JAVA forum needs to be split into several suforums, first because it doesn't get that much traffic to overwhelm a single forum, and second because it doesn't make sence to have a different subforum for each library or technology/specialization related to a language. If we go for that we'll end up with hundreds of subforums. And then, when you have mixed questions you won't know where to post. I think that at this point it should remain as it is.

If traffic in the java forum increases, then we will break it out into subcategories; however, traffic needs to go up. We have directected people from www.Gamelan.com to our Java forum here with the assumption that traffic could increase and thus we might want to break it out.
