I think its sort of like asking, "I have Win 95 - should I go to win 98 SE?" I mean, if you're currenly using NT workstation and dont have any problems and dont mind not being able to use USB devices or have multimedia programs/accessories then dont worry about it. But I personally think that Win 2K is a great OS and I recommend it to anyone. i think the overall computer management has been greatly enhanced. granted, they moved a lot of stuff around, so at first it's real frustrating trying to find all your admin options, but once you get used to the new way of doing things - i think you'll like it much better. I know i did.
One thing is a little weird, since it is so new, some of your older applications may not work correctly. Although, i have had only one app not work (a CD Writer app - not Adaptec) - everything else has worked. Things that worked in NT are working in 2K, things that worked in 98 are working in 2K. However, because of the aforementioned problem, i am dual booting 98 and 2K pro. I share a drive partition between them (one Fat and two NTFS all together) so the 98 can see the data i want to burn off.
If you're not sure and you have the space on your machine or you have a second machine (one for the kids maybe) - go ahead and install it. It is incredibly easy to install - it has drivers for just about everything. I've only heard of one kind of HP printer not having a driver for Win2K. It was a printer designed for graphics and was very new. I'm sure HP will have one soon enough though.
Just my two cents,
