Shut-Down / Restart Problem in XP
Every time I try to restart or shut-down my PC, the Windows XP makes all the icons go away, I see the paperwall empty with no options to do...
after 5 - 10 minutes, it restarts q shuts-down the PC...
if anyone can help fixing this problem, I am sure this problem is not too good for the main board...
Thank you all...

Might want to try thi site for known issues. Or msdn.microsoft.com or searching on google (where I think I found this link for someone else a couple of months ago)

Yes, I have done a check-up for viruses with a new Anti-virus...
I believe it's something with the logout of Win XP... maybe it can't update a file or something...
anyway... if someone knows what could be the answer to this problem, please tell me.:)

have you looked in the event logs?
services that are hanging should be noted there.

Are you talking about the SP1 download? If yes, have you tried the workaround suggestion by dismantling the Windows XP logon Welcome screen which is the next para down?
Can't help you with the download ;) SP1 is probably fairly large.
