Thats funny I had already discussed that option with my wife. I tend more towards Chicken Chop.:D

I was also thinking of Artemis, because she is a hunting dog, but it doesn't sound right.

I know I have to be careful. I named my first dog Ivan The Terrible

They are beautifull and very kind dogs, normally. There are a couple of things, however: they need to run a lot, it's in their blood -- so, if they don't have the opportunity to get rid of their energy for a few days, they tend to become disobedient. More precisely, once away from the leash, they will first run like **** for a while, regardless if the master is calling or not:)

Second, they tend to user their noses a lot. They're permanently sniffing on the ground. Now that must not necessarily be a problem, but, depending on where you live, you may have the problem that the dog will pick up "things". That is a problem if you live in a larger town, with litter on the streets.

Third, they have a high pray drive. Watch your squirrels! Mine used to be "benign" -- that is, she used to chase cats, but once she got them (she was waaaay faster than a cat) she didn't do anything to them. The cat stopped to defend itself -- the dog stopped and waited for the cat to start running again. Brilliant game, for the dog -- not so nice for the cats, I guess.

Well, I whish you good luck with her. Keep us informed :)

I really don't understand that, that's why I love cats (those wierdos) ;) I mean one swip at the nose and game over, but they never do...I have never seen a cat get into a dogs face...and that is surprising...

I know someone who owns a Rottweiler. A pretty big one. Well, one day, that dog sees a cat and manages to pull the leash out of the owners hand. So the dog runs to the cat growling, and one second later runs back to the master yelling. That cat was not the sort that is affraid of dogs, and gave the rottie a bloody nose in a millisecond.

That rottie is not interested in cats any more :) A very good experience.

Well, we also have such a cat in the neighbourhood. I'd like to let my dog try chasing her, as a lesson to him, if I onyl were sure that all he gets is a bloody nose. But I'm affraid for his eyes, so I think I won't give it a try.

The world cannot be better : I rule.
Seriously, though...your wife objected cos' of 3 reasons :

1) Athena is a female goddess and all women wanna be Her. By naming an animal after Her means that you're degrading her and all women! This sucks! If I were you, Soul...I would cover my ears with steel casings for fear of being pulled at by my wife!

2) Secondly, I knew it all along. Your wife wants a nice, suitable name for a dog, and she knows Xeon is best. However, she don't wanna upset you directly by telling you she wants 'Xeon' for the name, and thus, she told a white lie. Your wife understands you best, and as such, she knew you would choose 'Xeon' for your dog's name. That's why I say, Soul....some women are so cute and smart. Cherish your wife, son....you're really lucky.

3) Girls prefer creative men. As such....it's natural.

'Xeon' simply turns girls on. About 1 year ago, I was playing this PlayStation game and I was stuck. I participated in a forum to get answers, and then, I became a part-time helper too.(although I'm not now)
Then, there was a poll to see which helper(myself included) was the best.

I scored the top, together with one other guy. Originally, I lost by 1 vote, but the sister of another guy voted for me. Girls....they rule. I don't care : from now on, you must spend 60% of your earnings on girls. Buy them perfumes, shoes, clothes and everything to make them happy. Forget about gender discrimination in the office : girls perform better than any man and you should learn from them. NOW!

It has been discovered that the number of companies adopting Xeon processors are rising rapidly, and this is the case in companies whereby the bosses or top executives are females.

And....'Gunning for girls' means 'Bang bang bang!!!'.
MiCk...do u understand the statement above? ;) >:->

How do I defend my honor? The dog is named XEON and that is the whole honest to goodness truth. How can I prove it. Oh lord to be put in this impossible situation. XEON is a good name. It feels right when scolding the dog:
"XEON!!! SHAME ON YOU, YOU NAUGHTY DOGGY!!!"

Solar is a mod beacause he deserves it. The fact that he seems not do do anyhing is just a proove that he knows how to moderate. To state it officially, he has and always will have my full support.

My! Really! This must be a cover-up! Now, don't you forget Simon, Solar and me used to post tons of crap in the General Discussion forum...or are you not aware and pretending you dunno an old ship mate, Gabriel and Solar?
We're all in this together, remember?

Anyway, MiCk...fire up our rebellion troops to topple Captain Flint. Either Long John Silver or Red can be the captain. Pieces of Eight! Pieces of Eight! Fifteen men on a dead man's chest, yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum!

Remember this song we sang, Solar? >:->

No offense to Solar, but what does it mean to deserve to be a moderator? Is it supposed to be some sort of prize?

If it is based on Knowledge of programming and help in the real forums, then wouldn't there be many others: Paul McKenzie, Galathaea, Graham, JohnCz, Sam Hobbs, ovidiucucu, VladimirF, gstercken, rxbagain, Mick, mdmd, kheun, kuphryn, NigelQ, Jase Jennings, mwilliamson
... Just to name a few.
(real forums == C++) Before this turns into another debate over languages, C++ is the only one I use and these are the only forums I visit. If guys and gals like the above were not members of this website, you wouldn't see me poping my head up here.
(I have not included any of you super moderators, because I am trying to mention people who don't have the coveted moderator status)

If it is based an chit-chat well then the obvious choice is XEON.

Ego of average human : 2000 points
Ego of average human who becomes Moderator : 6000 points

Get it, Soul? :)

The King of Dogs have supreme memory.

If it is based an chit-chat well then the obvious choice is XEON.

The King of Dogs has been really nice to me today. I will not, and never, or in the event of any possibility, forget this unrivalled kindness. I promise to be really nice to all dogs from now on to honour His name. He is my sworn ally whom I pledge loyalty to, and dogs are men's best friends. Soul is Xeon's undying pal.

But even then, I have to clarify something which some of these moderators may be confused about. :)

I will never become a moderator even if Brad and the entire dev-archive team begs me to, because of the following reasons :

1) I have a feeling that if I become moderator, I will lose 90% of my freedom cos' I've to set an example and live up to my professionalism.

2) I have no time to moderate.

3) I hate stress.

4) I prefer to be normal like everyone.

So, Solar...please do not let this issue hurt our blood-based ally relationship. :)

Very complex joke indeed. Must be a joke shared by executives who drink the most expensive coffee and executives who treats Ferraris like dirt.

As far as I can figure, it's because I am regularly at the site and so am able to moderate; I am rarely (although it has happened ... oops) out of line in my posts; and am responsible enough to handle the situations that arise appropriately. Also, I read a book on brainwashing before I asked Brad ;).

# 63 Re: What should I name my new dog?
Just another couple of suggestions...

Growing up, I always thought that cigarette brands made good names for male dogs. Like Winston, Terreyton, Camel, heck even Pall Mall.

There are some nice words in turkish that make good female dog names, like Guzel (=pretty), Deniz (=sea), Bira (=beer), Merhaba(=hello), or even Gule Gule (=good bye).

If you are looking for greek names, there is always that nice name of the statue Pygmalion made that came to life... (what was her name?). :p

Anyway, does anyone know how North Carolina and South Carolina got their names? Carolina is a name for a girl!

Is it because in the 1700s, there's a very cute blonde in that Carolina area?:eek::):D

Taken from "Carolus," the Latin word for Charles and named after England's King Charles I.

How unromantic! And I thought N. and S. Carolina are named after some cute legend in the USA, like my priceless idol Princess Grace Kelly!:eek:

Aye~, MiCk! As a man, you shouldn't be so selfish! Why try to pamper all the girls yourself? U know you can't handle them all!
Leave some for Xeon....1 - 10 is enough. You can have the rest of them all.(entire female population in USA Southern states - 10)
:D

Anyway, there seems to be something going on with these Southern belles or something. I've heard that their way of dressing and accent is very different from the Northen belles in the USA.
(if I remember correctly, they're more like Hawaiian style girls, whereby they wear those grass skirts and have tanned-skin)

Cheerio for girls, MiCk.

# 70 Re: What should I name my new dog?
You could also call him after a fictional character, with the characters of dog reversed: god.

Advantages:

It's short
It's unique (for a dog)
It's containing all the letters in the word dog
It's a very often heard word, despite it's uniqueness for a dog
It's good for your image these days, even the US president calls god each day, or so he says.

Disadvantages:

It's blasphemous to nasty christian neighbours
It may ultimately get your dog killed and your property damaged and make you the neighbourhood pariah

And 3 more things :

1) You will start to lose your wife, and all your female friends will slowly leave you one by one until you're totally desperate

2) You'll meet the lawyer to file your bankrupt issues

3) When you leave this world, your soul will be condemned to He||, Soul pal!:eek:

As such, you better not violate His name!
Tell me : would be rather be caring and sweetening up girls in the Garden of Eden and the Elysian Fields, or would you rather keep Simon company in Satan's cave?
