LAN Security
I want to join some folks in a LAN "comunity" using Windows XP, switches and utp cables. I want to know any possible form of atack I can expect form inside the network and the cure. Thanks !
PS. Do you think integrated Windows XP security will do ? (that's sharing..)

xp security will help. but you should still firewall your system. if i am not mistaken you can do zone alarms on your computer for even an internal firewall.
also if you don't share your c drive, or if you share it but estalish a restricted user allowed list that will help it.

Thank you Jim !
The net "dwellers" (that includes me now) if you don't mind the comparison, use a sort of a chat program - and I've just discovered that it is offering a full range of back doors to each unprotected system. Anyway, the problem is solved through the setting panel and, of course, win xp's sharing. The rest is as you just said..plus some network rules (==common sense, like no trojans etc..) that I hope will hold. But, you may ask yourself, "why on earth did he ask ? if he considers that common sense should stop anyone theese days..". My knowledge is still limited, but I intend to do something about it !
