Read / Unread

Hi,

I hope this is the appropriate forum to voice this concern...

I find that as of late, the "read" threads/posts in the forums I subscribe to are not maintaining their state. If I revisit a forum (or forums) I sometimes find threads that had previously been marked as read, now unread, and there have been no new posts made to the thread. This isn't just one or two threads, but tens of threads.

I usually use mark all forums read, after reading all the new posts since I last visited.

But, say a new post arrives, and go read it, then click back to the top of the forum say it was in win32 api forum, then I click on the top to go back to dev-archive forums, it still thinks there is an unread post in the win32 api. so there is some logic issue I guess...

As do I...

Hmmm...
But I'm seeing many, many posts show up as unread - it is as if the "Mark all posts read" doesn't work or "hold persistence" between visits to the forum(s). And, I've seen cases where tens of posts that I haven't seen were marked as read...

Just seems to be a buggy implementation, but it's probably the user... <g>

Sometimes if you go to CG, leave, and come back later (or if you just sit there), vB will mark posts that were there when you first came as read, even if you never viewed them in your browser.

I'll have someone look into this.
