Startup problem.
I don't remember when it started to occur or what I did, but for For almost a month now the message below always comes up before my Win'98 displays during startup;
Invalid path, not directory
or directory not empty
Invalid path, not directory
or directory not empty
Invalid path, not directory
or directory not empty
Invalid path, not directory
or directory not empty
Invalid path, not directory

Please help. I am not highly technical oriented when it comes to O/S.
Thanks

The autoexec.bat contains only this ...
C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDP~1\PCSCAN.EXE C:\ C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\ /NS /WIN95
I don't have config.sys. What other files being 'activated' by Win 98 before it displays?

I tried the step by step confirmation.
The problem appears between the last driver load and the Windows' first display. The last driver loaded is 'msmouse.vxd'. I tried removing that driver but the problem messages still appear -- indicating that that driver is not the source of the problem.
Any other way? Where can I get the msconfig? The Windows Startup menu and it contains only 'Microsoft Find Fast' and 'Office Startup'.

download registry cleaner
and after scan remove all the unwanted entries.
download it from www.download.com
if it does't work then
press-start-run then write "regedit"
registry will open ,press CTRL+F and write "invalid path, not directory"
delete all the strings with the same name till the search ends.
