I have a small problem. I need to have an audit trail of all printing done
from a windows XP machine whether the printing is done to a local or
networked computer. The project calls for a message to be sent over
the net to an auditor whenever a print job is started or submitted for printing.
If necessary I can modify drivers etc. But thought there might be an
easier way to go about this and wanted to query the gurus

Any suggestions as to XP hooks that might be used to get notification
of a print job in the queue and fire off an application to send the
audit essage? Appreciate any pointers as to places to look or books/articles
that might have example code. I've tried googling
for such an application but mostly found existing freeware that wasn't
quite right but no source or example code. My MS environment is
relatively old and it will be several days till I can get a decent
developement environment up.
