reboot automatically problem

My pc is new and just used for 1 week

Here is the configuration:
Windows XP SP2
AMD Sempron 2400+
1GB DDR400 Ram
MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard
GeForce 6600 display card

I have no idea why my pc will reboot automatically for sometimes... and i cannot predict the reboot time... it just reboots whenever it likes...

can anybody help me to solve this problem?

Million Thanks

1) Make sure you have a firewall and anti-virus software installed [and running :) ]
2) Make sure you have the latests security updates from windows update.
3) Check the event log in your control panel->admin tools->event logs for any events related to the restart.

Check under your control panel->system->advanced->startup and recovery and see if the automatic restart is checked for system failure. You should find an event in the event log that gives the bugcheck details. Post that if you find it. Look for something along the lines that starts like this:

STOP: 0x00000079 (0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x00000002, 0x00000000)

You need to provide more information.

It found the following and I suspected it;'s the source of error

source: nvatabus
Information:
0000: 1b 00 0c 00 01 00 66 00 .....f.
0008: 00 00 00 00 02 00 de 40 .....@
0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ......
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ......
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ......
0028: 01 01 01 00 85 00 de 10 ...…..
0030: 00 00 00 00 ...

I wonder the problems are from the display card??

thank you

What are your driver versions for nvatabus.sys. Just browsing the reported problems and they seem to be all over the place on this one. I believe you would need the unified drivers and this problem relates to the the IDE driver.

home page:
http://www.nvidia.com
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_udp_winxp_archive.html

Just confirm for me that this is the case. Go into your control panel->system->hardware->device manager.
Go to the IDE ATA/ATAPI and look at the drivers, is nvidia the vendor? [look at the driver details]

Since there really is no clear indication of where the problem lies [or there have been no clear reports on it] I would adivse you to contact nvidia. I would try updating the drivers first [but note there have been issues with updating drivers and in some cases you have to follow specific un-install/install steps]

Well like I said the reported problems are all over the place. This could also be a hardware issue: tempature/memory/cable...but updated drivers are generally the best place to start.

Good Luck :)

The problem appears again....

I checked that before the memory dump, it was running a Event ID 2 and this event will appear at every 90 minutes (estimated, not exact value)...

I wonder if it's because of hardware crash or it's the problems of the display card...I had installed the most updated driver... ...

The display card is new and quite expensive... i don't want to change it...

Hope some body can help

Thanks
