Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005 any good!?!?!?!

I currently Have: Windows XP Professional Sp2
Im looking to get Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005.

Is it worth it.
Im a home user, I love to play games, Listen to music, and work with ALOT Of software like Adobe stuff and Microsoft Office stuff. Also I do web designing, and Alot of other computer tasks.

Im just wondering if I should stay with XP Pro or go to Media Center Edition 2005.
Any benefits? I'm not going to be hooking up a tv to it...Im just wondering if theres any upgrades to the actual operating system.

Oh and another question, Ive googled all over the **** place, can someone straighten out this SO COMMON AND OLD question.
"Is MCE 2005 Based on Xp Home, or Xp Pro."

Im sure youve heard it a bazillion times, I hope it wont hurt to answer once more :)

Anyways thanks for any help.

bump ....As zerver said - this is a VC++ development forum. Maybe you should post your question to the Windows OS Issues ( http://www.dev-archive.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31) forum.

As site admin, bumping your thread every hour (or less) is not appropriate. Please do not continue that practice or we will ask you to stop posting here.

As to Media Center, I have not installed it, but the people I know who have installed it did so with effort (easier to buy a machine with it pre-installed). It is much pickier on hardware and such. If you are not planning to use it to hook into other devices -- such as TV, then I'm not sure that it makes sense to install. That seems like buying a bose stereo so you can listen to AM Mono radio.

To use XP Media Center, You will have to buy hardware which supports XP Media center.

If you are having an ordinary PC, forget about switching to XP media center.

there are special Motherboards, where there are special setting to suport Media center. if you try to install media center, it will check those bios settings. so, if you wont have one, it wont install...

good luck.
