How long before a dormant thread is locked ??
Every now and then, a new member post's in a two or three year old thread.. the best yet was something like: Hey i found a solution to your problem.. you need to ...............
how long Before these threads are locked... i've notived the threads before 1999 are all locked... and was wondering what criteria there is for locking threads...

Well...actually there isn't any kind of special lock that I would know of. In general you should be able to answer even the oldest thread if you wish to...obviously this wouldn't make much sense... ;)

There are currently no automated processes in place to lock threads. Threads can be locked, but it is on an individual basis. As such, the answer to your question is 'never - threads are not locked based on time'.
