Random Computer Reboot...
Hey There,
A while back, all of a sudden, my computer started rebooting automatically every once in a while. I would sit in front of the computer, surf the net (nothing special) and all of a sudden the computer would reboot... When it started again, there was a "Windows Error" Dialog - One of those error dialogs where you have the option to send or dont send an error report to microsoft...
Anyways... I thought that something got messed up in my system files, so I formatted and installed only Windows on my computer...
Now, it continues to reboot every once in a while, but without the error message when the computerstarts again...
Is this a software or hardware problem?
Does this happen to anyone else?
Thanks in Advance, gilly914 :)

The way you describe it, it could be either. A couple of questions.
1. Have you disabled the system error report? (This can keep you from getting your Windows error.)
2. What operating system do you run?
3. Are your Windows Updates up to date?
4. Have you checked the temperature of the computer? (Usually computers freeze with overheat but some reboot)

I'm currently using WindowsXP Professional...
I don't know the temperature of my computer, but I don't think that that would be the case, since I don't leave the computer on for long periods at a time...
but maybe I'm mistaken... If that is the problem, what can I do about it?
Thanks, gilly914

Well, I don't think it is your temperature either but processing large amounts or active usage is the same as leaving your computer on for a long time.
Since you have XP, you can check to see if you disabled error alerts.
1. Under the Control Panel, select System.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Look at the error reporting settings.
*Also look at the dump settings.
