Very very weird screen capture issue

Hi all,

Does anyone know why screen capture doesn't seem to work on video windows?

1) First, view a video using Windows Media Player(can be porn videos, preferably).
2) Pause the video and press the "Print Screen" key. You can also use screen capture software.
3) Copy and paste the screen capture into a graphics program like MS Paint or PhotoShop. The video area is blank in the screen capture! Is it that screen captures doesn't apply to videos? This is a bizzare discovery!
Computer scientists should term it the "Xeon Syndrome"! :thumb:

Thanks!
Xeon.

That's a copy protection feature of Media Player and is entirely intentional ^^

Well, it's not just of Media Player's. You can't do that with most of players.

I use media player classic (never had any problems)

Edit: If that doesn't work XeOn, then follow my PM directions :D :D :D

Video overlay, the image bypasses the RAM.

I think it have to do with settings, and video overlay or something. Anyway I also do screen capture with media player classic.

I think VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod can do that too, they are free tools to do editing on videos or convert to other video formats, as long as you have the codec filters installed.

Xeon, if you have a decent dictionary, look up for the term "newbie"...:D..

anyway, wipe off your tears...there's a simple solution to it...press CTRL+I and it'll save the image in jpeg or bmp, if I'm not mistaken...go try it...if you can't find the CTRL key, it's at the bottom left of your keyboard:D...

if you lived in primitive age i.e: don't have Windows Media Player 9 or above, just turn off the video acceleration...

for another method, just slap yourself trice and I'll tell you:D:D...

Thanks for your replies, all! Learnt something new today.....video overlay and copy-protection, eh? Thanks! :)

(by the way, Ree....you're obviously very lame! :D)

Good day,
Xeon.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to with copy protection in this case. A video is almost always played using a technique called video-overlays. This is memory on the video-card itself and a simple print-screen will not grab that.

It can even get more strange (unless you understand the workings of video overlays). Try the following:
- Play your video in mediaplayer
- press print-screen
- paste in your favorite paint program
- keep the video playing and move your paint program around over your mediaplayer and see what happens

You have to turn off video acceleration for it to work, never been able to find that setting anywhere though :)

(by the way, Ree....you're obviously very lame! :D)those tricks didn't do?...what kind of player you have?...what kind of codecs you have installed?...what kind of man are you?:D:D...

Yes, I tried that in PhotoShop before. The video area been captured is totally blank on the PhotoShop canvas, but when you move the canvas around, parts of the video shows up, depending on where you position the canvas. It's very eerier and it's like "Now you see me, now you don't!" :D:D:D

From Ree:

Never tried those tricks in the first place. I mean, how can a noob like you succeed when the experts are fumbled themselves?
My player is Windows Media Player 10. I have lots of codecs installed and Media Player auto-downloads them if it can't find any. This is very useful for watching international porn clips, whereby there's lots of weird video file formats. :D
I'm a real man with a real ding-dong(variable size) with a real media player for watching real videos.

Say, Gremlin......is that your own PC? How on earth can you dev-archive geeks find such witty pictures? By searching for "PC monitor screen kiss photocopy machine face"?

Thanks,
Xeon.
