Well, back in the old days of Windows 95 there weren't much options because backup and system recovery were still in the making.

As I see it you have a few options...
1. Reinstall the operating system over the old and not loose your files, just your configurations.
2. Use a boot disk and edit the system.ini file to set the shell to progman.exe instead of explorer.exe. This will give it the appearance of Windows 3.11.
3. Use a boot disk with a copy of explorer.exe from the same version of Windows 95 that you have and copy it to the Windows directory. Remember that their are 3 versions of Windows 95.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Just bad luck that it happened when you did something that seems unrelated to it. The OS doesn't care what time you enter.

Sounds nothing like hardware to me. Time changes has no effect to hardware unless you consider BIOS hardware.

Windows 95 was my first OS that gave me a desire to learn about computers. When a fault is found in an application it is a corrupted piece of software, not hardware.

Why would the date or time mess up anything in Windows, though? Windows doesn't care what time it is, unless the BIOS had W2K issues, but those are long gone.

Date and time can cause a fault because of the way that explorer would read files for dates and times of creation or modification. This is back in the Windows 95 days when I had to rebuild my computer a couple of times a year. Faults came easily to explorer.exe.

In fact, it might have nothing to do with the time changing it just might be a whole coincidence. That is why I am saying it sounds nothing like a hardware issue. Look at the output. The fault is caused within itself.

I might even be wrong. Maybe it is hardware. I just don't think so yet.

Use a boot disk and copy explorer.exe from the same OS version to your windows directory. See if that will solve it.
