[Serious] Developing DataBase Applications With VB.NET

I am curious what kind of different approach I'm going to use to program my database applications with VB.NET 2005. I'm new to .NET but pretty familiar with VB6.

Are their any good articles about designing database applications in VB.NET?

I'm not familiar with reporting in Crystal Reports or SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. In the past I used Excel. Any articles on crystal or SQL reporting services?

I have a few books that I have just glanced through so far (they are the Mircosoft books). They seem they are great for programming, but I'd like something that covers more of the thought process of creating a full scale business database application with Visual Studio.NET
I work as a programmer, but I am a one man team. Any help?
