MS C/C++ Divergent Products
I mean Here you start out with Managed C++, which was just part of the .net thing. Then the nextgen language spec is called C++/CLI. You have got a C#, that I actually appreciate because it is not just some other "flavor" of C++, but still has "C" in the title.
On another note formerly MS started WinAPI programming, then MFC and then followed by products like WTL etc... What I am getting at is that repackaging each modification and improvement as an entirely different package is pretty schismatic.
In a marketing point of view:
It could be that each generation is remarketed and resold on Microsofts exciting new product lines. After all when your young and your going into tech, you want to be cutting edge. It helps to keep the "Experts" at bay to be moving quickly. I mean ya gotta learn a brand new syntax or move to management :D .
From an outside point of view:
The point is that all this repackaging and so forth could possibly be seen as if the projects are privately pronounced as some flavor of failure and time to move to the next. But with none of the embarrasment. :blush:
From a competitive point of view:
It appears as if MS has taken measures to duplicate or eliminate products like Java and PHP.:rolleyes:
From a .net point of view:
It is just par for the course. :cool:
From a different point of view:
You could say that products with "C" or the title attract bright technical programmers. (Or not). :eek:
What do you guys think? :ehh:
