Why is the printable page so ugly?

Hi,

I'm new to dev-archive and if this is a frequently asked question, sorry for that.

Why is the printable page of an article so ugly and useless? If I want to create a print version of an article I have to click those button on the bottom, but the result is far from printable. All ads are included, the following pages are not included (?). What kind of print page is this? :)

Some of the ads need the complete page space and some strech the whole content to two or more pages. I've never seen this kind of "printable page". If I use the print page function e.g. on Microsoft's site I get a well formated text without any ads or frames or something like that. Maybe someone could review the code for this useless print button on dev-archive?

Bye

I would agree that it is dumb to include ads in the print page. But the article is parsed nicely for printing. The links at the bottom are useless also. But over all, it makes the printing much better than if you didn't have that button.

This has been brought up 2 years ago and it still is as it was reported.

I'll bring this up within Jupitermedia once again. I agree that the printable version of pages are only somewhat better than the normal pages. Regardless, it is a decision made above me.

I'm sorry to attempt to hijack this thread, but it just comes like my question:

why doesn't the printable version include the [ code ] tag formatting? The code is displayed like standard Sans/Times text (ie.: no monospaced) which makes long [ code ] sections quite ugly when printable...

Just my two cents thought.

Brad!

Seems like this issue is resolved. I remember this issue and complained about it a couple of years ago as well. Recently, I printed a couple of threads and the printable page seems very nice now.
