Firefox as main browser

Anybody know how to make Firefox your permanent and only web browser? The typical "delete" route doesn't seem to be an option in my case when it comes to getting rid of Explorer. I'm lost...

Go to Tools Menu, Select Options. Under Main tab, check the bottom corner. You will see a Check Now button. Click on that button and select Yes. That should make FireFox your default Browser. :)

As Shuja has pointed out, you can set Firefox to your default browser. No matter what, you can't delete Internet Explorer. It is built into Windows since Windows 95. Explorer.exe is the same thing as Internet Explorer.exe with a few minor variations.

As a matter of fact, as pointed out in the post above this. Explorer.exe does work as Internet Explorer too. Just open the Explorer and in the address bar type www.google.com and you will see that the explorer turns into an internet explorer.

It depends on the file extension. I have a few sites that open IE windows, even though I've used Fx as the default for a few years.

Hey David. I did notice that behavior few times and was surprised to see that the sites open in IE rather than FF.

Might be .htm extensions. Doesn't really bother me.

Well, if you find that it is a certain extension, go to your folder options. And choose the File Types tab. From there you can edit how the file reacts or you can just open the file properties and click the Change button that refers to which program that opens it.

Since Windows 98.
Windows 95 explorer had no IE in it!
Nevertheless, IIRC, some components of IE can be removed from Windows 98, but not all.

Since Windows 98.
You are correct. I got my versions mixed up. Windows 95 is when IE 1.0 was first created. Windows 98 is when it was first integrated.
