Marketing Survey

Why am I being pestered by this dumb marketing survey popup every time I use dev-archive?

I've already filled it with junk responses several times, but it just keeps popping up - every few minutes. Why are they wasting their and my time on this pointless exercise? How much junk do they want?

Which is why I have ALL pop-ups blocked. :)

We are not running any market surveys, so that is coming second hand from one of the advertisments (which is outside of our ability to turn off). In general, if you click into the pop-up, it should create a cookie that will then prevent it from showing again. At least that is how it works when we used that company. If you close the dialog (clicking the X button), you don't create a cookie and you are likely to get it again.

So lax? I deal with advertisor issues on a weekly if not daily basis. Because our site has third party ad servers linked into it, we lose some control -- just as you lose a little control when you go to a site you didn't build. We have dropped many ads and worked with many agencies to clean up more ads than any other sites I know. If something is annoying and cannot be easily made 'un-annoying', then we deal with it.

If the questionmark surveys are not going away by clicking on them once, then they are even farther beyond violating our advertising rules and I'll see what I can do to have them dealt with. This is not necessarily an easy task without knowing which ads are launching them.

Are there other ways we are being lax?

So lax?No, relaxed. I say relaxed, because this is exactly the same marketing popup that caused a fuss about a year ago - QuestionMarket.com (http://www.dev-archive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371118&highlight=questionnaire).

Are there other ways we are being lax?Any others? I don't know, I haven't suggested any yet
