1. Microsoft says "By the end of the year". VS 2005 was released in November, we'll see how 2008 relates.
2. The current version is 3.0. The four key items in 3.0 were WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation), WCF (Windows Communication Foundation), WF (Windows WorkFlow), and InfoCard.
3. They are all real products. LINQ differs from the others. It is the data access approach being added to .NET 3.5. The other three items are all dynamic Web technologies. Air relates to Flash from Adobe, JavaFX relates to Sun, and Silverlight is Microsoft's.
4. a. Gatineau - A Microsoft web analytics product
b. Katmai - Microsoft SQL Server 2008
c. Astoria (http://astoria.mslivelabs.com) - a Microsoft product to expose data as a data service
d. Apollo - Adobe Flash on the desktop, without a browser
e. Dolphin - J2SE 7.0 (1.7.0) - Java 2 Platform Standard Edition
5. Windows "7"
6. .NET Micro Framework
7. a. A way to show standard web pages on a mobile device

Did you get them all correct? My apologies for the typo in question 4. SQL Server 2008's code name is Katmai, not Hatmai.

Talking about codenames:
OS codenames are names of resorts
VS codenames are names of islands
WinCE codenames are names of malts
And apparently, Office 12 will be followed by Office 14. Any guesses why ? ;)

I have to dis agree with this. WPF is primarily dedicated to DESKTOP applications (SilverLight is the Web version). WCF is for any type of inter processs communication. WF is for orchestrating activities.
I do not see how any oof them can be considered a Web technology...

Are you mixing answers/questions? Air, Silverlight, and JavaFX are the ones mentioned as dynamic Web Technologies (although Air could be considered a dynamic Web technology that has been moved to the desktop).
WPF, WF, and WCF were mentioned as 3 of the four things that were part of .NET 3.0 (along with InfoCard). I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with...?
