Profiles

An ehancement probably : can we have a forum wise post count on the user profile page?

Would be helpful to search for people's posts in any specific forum. We can do that with the advanced search as well but just that if it is possible to search from why not have it in the profile. Would seem more meaningful than just the postcount.

Or may be something like top posters in a particular forum or most rated posts in a particular forum (not necessarily need to show how many ratings). This one would be more helpful since something I like to browse through the different forums that I am regular in to find good posts threads that I can go through. Searching as such sometimes does always result in meaningful responses/threads.

Or for that matter - any other suggestions or means (that exists or that can be made to exist) that can help in viewing good threads (good posts). Finding those might be tricky but I guess there can be ways to atleast filter some poor ones out. Just so people can browse through them.

Also, something like marking a thread as read - currently all old threads are shown as read which is not true! Anything specific, for example, when I go through a thread - I can mark it as read for me personally and have a list of those. Or may be a way to categorize good theads into my basket or something like that.

Too many ideas, would good to know what are possible and what are not and what might not sound too useful or if there is some existing trickery that can be applied to achieve this.

We use vBulletin software for our forums. As such, most features offered are based on what that software offers. If they make changes to add what you suggest, then those changes are likely to happen here. As such, I strongly recommend that you make similar suggestions to them!

IMHO, users of dev-archive forums should not be concerned about directly contacting vBulletin. Users don't even need to know what software is running. It is all dev-archive's decision. So, I think, all such requests and their usefulness should be funneled to vBulletin or whoever it is by dev-archive staff.

We do funnel a large number of requests back to vBulletin. The more people that make the request, the more likely it could happen.
