I made it about half way through.

Jet Lee and Jackie Chan need to watch out - there's a new Kung Fu sheriff in town.

LOL, funny scene from some south indian movie. However, this must be over 20 years old - because the guy in question (Rajnikant) is over 60 now (with gray hair and stuff) - and he's so popular that he's now into politics.

Oh, this isn't a Bollywood movie - those are usually in Hindi.

This is a South Indian production (if you ask them, they'll call it Mollywood... :D).

Bollywood = Hollywood equivalent of Bombay (now called Mumbai).
Mollywood = Hollywood equivalent of Madras (now called Chennai).

You see, India is so big and with over 18 different and distinct languages and cultures that one movie industry doesn't suit everyone out there. :D

Hey Siddhartha, thanks for your explanations!

What did the name change from Madras to Chennai happen? I have a friend and a colleague who were from Madras, still refer to Madras as Madras.

I can understand your colleague though - I was born in Bombay and lived there for 20 years and still call it Bombay. Mumbai just doesn't seem right. :D

(Indian politicians have nothing better to do than to keep people occupied in correcting their letterheads and addressbooks by renaming prominent cities... )

Bangalore is I think Bengaluru now... :D

And I've seen some mags/reading materials refer Calcutta as Kolkata. Which one is most often used?

You are correct... Calcutta is Kolkata these days...

However, Kolkata was probably how locals always pronounced Calcutta anyways... But, most non-Calcuttans still call it Calcutta... :D
